Coursera Course – Health Policy & The Affordable Care Act

I am in the last week of Zeke Emanuel’s course on Health Policy & the Affordable Care Act and I must say, the attendance of Penn students in the course has dropped off precipitously by the first week of March 2012.  (They’re replaying video-recorded lectures from the spring 2012 semester and the lecture hall is often shown).  That’s clearly a universal phenomenon… should we be doing a better job in the classroom to keep them there?  Should we not care?  What are the goals of our time spent in class?

    • Yup it was. Unabashedly and unapologetically so! The forums were on fire with discussion, debate, and trolls. But, Emanuel was one of the writers/advisers of the ACA so it makes sense for it to portray the bill quite positively. Actually, though, several of the lectures leading up to the more opinionated ones were merely background on where the costs are in health care, who gets what kind of health care, what IS medicare and what IS medicaid.
